Error opening table in Windows 2003

I'm running SQL Server 2000 SP3 on Windows 2003 Server.
I can create tables, indexes, etc. in SQL Enterprise
Manager. But I'm unable to open a table to view the data
in SQL Enterprise Manager. It give me the following
error message: Provider cannot be found. It may not be
properly installed.
I've uninstalled SQL Server 2000 and re-installed it with
SP3 but still running into the same problem.
Anyone know what's going on or have any idea to correct
this error?
ThanksDid you try using Query Analyzer? How are you connecting to SQL Server
service (windows auth, sql auth)?

Error opening Enterprise manager.

When opening SQL Server Enterprise Manager, I get the following error.
A connection could not be established to SERVER.
Reason: Invalid attribute/option identifier.
Please verify SQL Server is running and check your SQL Server
registration properties and try again.
I checked the registration properties and its set for windows
authentication. I'm logged onto the server as administrator.
For a bit of background information, recently the server was failing to
boot and I had to repair the Windows 2000 installation. My customer
reports that this problem has only occurred since then.
Any ideas/help will be gratefully accepted (Sorry, i'm a SQL novice).

this problem David? You wrote that you installed MDAC 2.8 but was it the only
thing you did. What about sqlsrv32.dll?
The system went down after a big thunderstorm so i was thinking if this may
be the cause of the problem....

if you right click on your server - properties, general
tab, you will see a button at the bottom of the
screen 'Startup Parameters'.

When I open up SQL Server 2000, I get the error:
"Run-time error!
Program: C:\Winnt\system32\mmc.exe

Any ideas what I need to do? I really appreciate it.

I know there's SQL Server 2000 installation, and sqldmo2000 installation.

Error on SQL Enterprise Manager Display

SQL Enterprise Manager Version 7.0, Windows XP professional version 5.1

The list panels (right half of the screen) will not show the tables.
The top of the panel reads: 245 items, which is correct, but the panel
reads: there are no items to show in this view. This error is occurring
on one database on one server. The tables are actually there but I
cannot access them through Enterprise Manager.

I assume that a re-install will probably fix it, but I'm hoping
to avoid it.

Looking in the MS Knowledge Base, there seem to be a few issues with
this functionality - have you applied the latest servicepack (SP4) to
the workstation (and not just the server)?

been receiving for the last few months.
Anyways, when I startup the enteprise manager on a SQL server 7 database
that is running on a windows 2000 advanced server, I get the following error
message when I click on the database icon and begin the connect process to
the databases that reside on this server:
SQL server \\srv2000 is not known to be running. Are you sure you wish to
connect?
The icon that represents the databases has a red lightening bolt through it.
When I do say yes to this question, the icon still has the lightening bolt,
but I can see the databases. I can connect and see the data. The clients
that access these databases can connect with no problems. I only see the
above error message when I connect through enterprise manager. The other
tools (DTS services and Query Analyser) has not problems connecting to the
same databases either locally or over the network.
What is causing this error message to pop up and what can I do about this
problem?

I have a question, that I could not find a solution for by searching the web
and this news group. Hopefully someone can make sense of this error I have
been receiving for the last few months.
Anyways, when I startup the enteprise manager on a SQL server 7 database
that is running on a windows 2000 advanced server, I get the following error
message when I click on the database icon and begin the connect process to
the databases that reside on this server:

The icon that represents the databases has a red lightening bolt through it.
When I do say yes to this question, the icon still has the lightening bolt,
but I can see the databases. I can connect and see the data. The clients
that access these databases can connect with no problems. I only see the
above error message when I connect through enterprise manager. The other
tools (DTS services and Query Analyser) has not problems connecting to the
same databases either locally or over the network.
What is causing this error message to pop up and what can I do about this
problem?
Edward Letenrdre.make sure your connecting to srv2000 and not \\srv2000 , also re-register a
sql server maybe even trying the ip address in stead.

Error Message when accessing Report Manager

Whenever I try to access Report Manager, I get this message. I don't know what caused it. I recently installed Crystal Reports v11 & Oracle 10gEX evaluation apps. Could they have caused this? How do I fix this?

Please refer to the Reporting Services online help for guidance in enabling this functionality.

Explanation

A symmetric key is a single key used to encrypt and decrypt data. Reporting Services encrypts the symmetric key itself, using the public key of a specific user account on a specific computer. This error occurs when the public key that the user account provides does not match the public key that report server is expecting. Conditions that cause this error to occur include changing the name of a report server instance, moving the report server instance to a different computer, or changing the account under which the Report Server service runs.

User Action

A system administrator on the computer running the report server service can use a backup copy of the public key to get the report server running again. Use the rskeymgmt utility to apply the backup key set. If you do not have backup of the key, you must run the rskeymgmt utility to delete all of the encrypted content, run the rsconfig utility to respecify the encrypted connection values used to connect to the report server database, restart the service, and retype stored credentials for all reports that use stored credentials. The encryption keys are tied to the service account user. If any of those programs reset the ASP.Net account, it would cause this error.

Have you tried following the steps listed under "User Action"? Depending on which accounts were reset, you might be able to use rsactivate -r if you do not have a backup key.|||Brian:

Pardon my lack of knowledge but exactly how does one access the "rsactivate -r". Do I type this into the "run" text block?

I have found the rskeymgmnt.exe & rsconfig.exe files. Rvery time I click the executable the command window pops open & immediately closes.

Can you tell me how to retrieve a backup key? I default installed SQL Server 2000 and later Reporting Services. I do not recall setting up a backup key. Can I use rekeymgmt -e to extract a key to a text file? Can I use rekeymgmt -a to apply it before I try to get into Report Manager?

Do I type rsactivate -r into the "run" text box? Do I type any other characters with it? Do i need to type a specific account name with the reset commandor will a generic "rsactivate -r" reset all.

You can run rsactivate /? and rskeymgmt /? to get more help on other flags you will need. I have SQL 2005 installed on SBS 2003 SP2. I think it's SQL Server
Standard or whatever comes with SBS Premium.
I installed SQL as a named instance (SERVER\MSGPSBM) and also installed
Reporting Services in this instance using the default config during the
installation.
When I try to connect to Reporting Services with SSMS on the local
machine using Windows Authentication logged in as Administrator I get
the following error:
Cannot connect to SERVER\MSGPSBM
Additional Information:
Unable to connect to the remote server (System)
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused
it (System)
When I use IE to browse to http://server/reports$MSGPSBM I get a (X)
Error Unable to connect to the remote server. message
I can log into the database engine just fine.
What am I doing wrong?

to SSRS service?
If so check which of the points are marked on red. All of them should be
green or blue (if no active).
This is the first step to recognize where is the problem.
I suppose it could be a problem with accounts (Windows Services Account or
IIS Application Pool Account)

table in my database:
an unexpected error happened during this operation;
[ms design tools] class not registered
Basically one or more DLL's in the %Program Files%\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\MSDeisgner98 or MSDesigner7 directories have not been registered
correctly. You can check the %WINDIR%\SQLSTP.LOG and %WINDIR%\SQLSP.LOG log
files to identify any DLL's where there was an issue with registering the
DLL's. You will then need to manually register any DLL's that reported an
issue using regsvr32.
ie.
regsvr32.exe /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\MSDesigners98\<DLLNAME>"
or
regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\MSDesigner7 \<DLLNAME>"

dimension:
"Failed to load control 'POMDimensionBrowser' from . Your
version of may be outdated. Make sure you are using the
version of the control that was provided with your
application.
This menu item is unavailable at this time."
This is on a new install of AS with SP3 applied and a SQL
Server 2000 Server with SP3.
