Try setting remote proc trans to 0. i.e.

exec sp_configure 'remote proc trans', 0

go

However you may have custom apps that depend on this being enabled, if so, be careful when flipping this switch.

Greg, Thanks!

I try to follow your instruction, but I get the following message.

"Configuration option 'remote proc trans' changed from 0 to 0. Run the RECONFIGURE statement to install."

It seems the original value is 0 too.

Any ideas?
Thanks,

I just uninstalled/reinstalled VS2005 and SP1 and STILL have the same
problem! If this project is moved to another machine, it produces no
errors. Is there something wrong with the manner in which xml is
parsed in my version of VS? I tried re-registering Msxml3.dll, but
still no go. What could be going on here?!?!
Thanks for any feedback.

I suggest asking in microsoft.public.sqlserver.integrationsvcs, rather
than in the .server group.

Error on creating new Integration Services project in VS2005

I am creating my first Integration Services project and am getting an
error immediately after creating the project. The error is in the
designer and it displays a red X, saying "Microsoft Visual Studio is
unable to load this document: Object reference not set to an instance
of an object". Clicking on the error in the error window just opens up
the xml file which contains the following:

I have VS2005 SP1, running WindowsXP SP2. Inegration services is
running on the Sql Server on my machine, but this shouldn't matter
anyway as the error is happening before I have even indicated and data
source to use.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
MarcusI just uninstalled/reinstalled VS2005 and SP1 and STILL have the same
problem! If this project is moved to another machine, it produces no
errors. Is there something wrong with the manner in which xml is
parsed in my version of VS? I tried re-registering Msxml3.dll, but
still no go. What could be going on here?!?!
Thanks for any feedback.

Error on creating cube file from Excel 2003, AS 2005

Hi,

I tried to create a cube file in Excel 2003. Data source is SSAS 2005.

On the last step of wizard I get the following error:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Analysis Services 2005:
Query (3,2) Parser: The syntax for 'DIMENSION' is incorrect.

Seems like a bug. Is there any fix?
Tried to search google, found nothing...

SQL Server 2005 Developer SP2
Excell 2003 SP2

Thx for any tip...

certainly sounds like a bug. Can you provide a repro' that the product team can look at?

thanks,

Bala.

Error Msg 8120

Hello all,

I am using SQL Server 2005 Express on my local machine and am having a hard time figuring out why this problem is occuring. I am creating a stored procedure just fyi. 8120 = Column 's.Spread' is invalid in the select list because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause. And also...Column 's.Pay End Dt' is invalid in the select list because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause.

Both of these fields are being used in an expression not actually pulled into the query. I have bolded the line that the error refers to...Here is the sql:

Thanks in advance,
-BOK, I was wrong...the last three CASE expressions need to go in the GROUP BY but they can't because they have aggregates. Any ideas?

error message while creating table in the database

Hi

I created database using SQL server and runs under Cassini. The creation of database is ok but I have a problem when I am creating the table in database. Whenever I execute the code to create the tables, it shows the error message like 'Server not found' or just hang there. Does anybody know why it hang while I am creating the table? Is it because of the code or it's the time out error. Pls help as I am very new to this area.

MZAre you tying to create tables in SQL Server (Query Analyzer or Enterprise Manager), or in Web Matrix, or in your web application code, or...? If you can clarify where you are experiencing problems we should be able to help.

Error message when creating replication with generated SQL scripts

Hi all SQL Replication experts :)

I have created my production server as a distributor and a publication on that server. On my backup server I have created a pull subscription. After that I have generated SQL scripts on my backup server so I can create the pull subscription anytime.

To test my script I used sp_removedbreplication 'dbname' to remove replication on the backup server. I then used the generated SQL script to create the pull subscription again. I got this error message

Job 'ProdServName_DBName-BackServName-DBName401A48AE-D8DC-4F29-A610-13916370CD0B' started successfully.
Server: Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_addsubscription, Line 135
Invalid object name 'syspublications'.

What does this Error message mean and what can I do about it?

Grateful for all answers
Best,
/M

It looks like the database you are trying to add the subscription to is not the publication database. Can you confirm that the add subscription job has all the correct parameters on it?

Prem,
The message that matters is: CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database
'master'.
Therefore you will need to have Create Database permissions granted to you
before you can create a database. Talk to the administrator of the SQL
Server or, if you are the administrator, grant yourself that permission.

|||Re: "granting yourself", sorry but my sentence looks very unclear.
If you are the sysadmin on the server you will have create database rights.
However, if you are running your create database task using an alternate
login that has fewer rights, then that login will need to have additional
rights granted.

prem.Prem,
The message that matters is: CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database
'master'.
Therefore you will need to have Create Database permissions granted to you
before you can create a database. Talk to the administrator of the SQL
Server or, if you are the administrator, grant yourself that permission.

If you are the sysadmin on the server you will have create database rights.
However, if you are running your create database task using an alternate
login that has fewer rights, then that login will need to have additional
rights granted.
