I am trying to add sp3a to my Sql Server 2000 install.
I have already added sql2ksp3.exe and it installed fine. I get an error
trying to add sql2kasp3.exe. After unpacking and running setup.exe, I
get the error:
"An error occurred during the move process: -145"
There is plenty of room on my disk (about 300 MB).
I get the same error when I run it on different disks. The sql2ksp3.exe
is a much larger release and I had no problem with that one.
I looked on google for this error and I can pleny of docs with the same
error message (except for the -145).
Anyone know what the problem is?
Thanks,
Tom.Why are you installing SP3a when you already have SP3? Did you read the
release notes?
Why are you installing sql2kasp3.exe? Do you actually have Analysis
Services installed and running? Or did you just grab every single
SP3-related file?

I didn't have SP3. I had just loaded 2000 on my machine and was just
loading SP3 to bring it up to the correct level.

No. I didn't load all the SPs. I didn't load the desktop one. I
loaded the other because the instructions say to use both. I assume I
have the analysis services on my machine as I loaded the full system.
Is this not the case? How do I tell?
Here is the instructions on the MS download page:
***********************************************************************
Instructions
To install SP3a, follow the installation instructions below. Not all
steps are required, depending on which of the following SQL Server 2000
components or configurations to which the service pack is being applied.
Important: You must upgrade computers running Microsoft® Windows® XP
to Windows XP Service Pack 1 before applying SQL Server 2000 Service
Pack 3a.
Back up your SQL Server databases.
Back up your Analysis Services databases.
Make sure that the system databases have enough free space.
Minimum of 64 MB of RAM (128 MB or more recommended)
Install Database Components SP3a (SQL2KSP3.exe).
Install Analysis Services Components SP3a (SQL2KASP3.exe).
Restart services and applications.
More detailed instructions can be found at the Product Support Services
Readme .

Analysis Services. It shouldn't be installed if you're not using it, never
mind if you don't know what it is...
