Error R6034 in MSIEXEC.EXE while installing Proclarity Desktop Pro 6.3 Evaluation

What can I do about this? There doesn't seem to be any workaround, I've upgraded everything, including the Msiexec to 3.2 (v2), but the same error always pops up.

I've done other installs of the same product without any problem whatsoever.

Can anyone help?

Hello,

This isn't an error we commonly see. It actually looks to be a generic error from the Visual C++ runtime (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms235299(VS.80).aspx). You might try searching for that error and seeing what others have done to resolve it. Those same solutions will likely work for the ProClarity install as well.

I did search ... it spoke about VC80, manifest and stuff like that. Too technical for me to understand it.

Thanks anyway. I guess I'll have to do the Eval with Proclarity Web Pro, which installed without any problem.

If you have as2000 installed, maybe you will need to install the servicePack 4.

I had problems installing ProClarity 6.3 because i didn't had the latest servicePack of SQLServer 2000.

error Openrowset on the provider

I am a newbie, and need all the help i can get!

I am using SQL Server 2000 Personal edition on a Windows XP Pro wkst. I have just installed it, so maybe I have not configured it properly, I just created 2 new databases, online and off. I am trying to import data from Paradox db. I am using the DTS Import/Export Wizard in Enterprise Manager.

I select the database I want to import, which I have copied onto my local hardrive,C: Databases\old.db.

Then when I go to select the destination,
Provider: MS OLE DB Provider for SQL,
Server:local server-(this is my wkst, right?),
Use windows authentication( I have it set to use both windows and sql in security settings)
Database: new (database i just created.)

Next under Select source tables and views it shows my source database: old.db and destination [new].[dbo].[old]

When I click on next I get the following error:
Error source: Microsoft JET Database Engine
Error descrip:Unexpected error from external database driver
Context: Error calling OpenRowset on the provider

What am i doing wrong?

Please help!You need a better OS to run Enterprise edition. You can run the developer's
edition on 2000.

Error Message When Connecting to SQl Server Data

I am using MSDE on XP pro Service Pack 2 and have stored my data on the
default instance of MSSQLSERVER on my computer ID OFFICEPC. This is
networked to LAPTOP and SHOPPC.
My Access front end works fine with the SQL back end on the OFFICEPC. But
when I try to link the same front end from one of the other computers using
ODBC, i get the following error:
Connection Failed:
SQL state 2800
SQL Server Error 18456
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Login failed for user
'OFFICEPC\Guest'
I have run svrnetcn.exe and enabled port 1433 to pass through the firewall.
Ports 135 and 445 are also enabled.
What have I done wrong? Thanks in advance for any help

it seems you do not have firewall troubles, but standard security problems,
as OFFICEPC\.. users are not granted login to MSDE instance... please verify
your Logins
can you telnet on port 1433 the MSDE instance?

in order to grant your 'OFFICEPC\xxxx' users, you have to add them to the
SQL Server Windows logins...
