Error renaming analysis services project

After renaming an analysis services project in bi development studio I receive the following error when deploying the project to SQL2005 AS (SP1):

Error 1 The 'Database' with 'ID' = 'AS UPC Chain Sales ' doesn't exist in the collection. 0 0

However the database is available on the server and can be processed and used. Any ideas how to fix this error?

Try to rename your live database on the Analysis Server using SQL Management Studio.

Then create a new project in BI Dev Studio. Select a project type as "Import Analysis Services 9.0 Database...". Follow the steps and get your project re-created based on the live version of the database.

If you have a new issue, please create a new thread rather than just replying to an old one. You are more likely to get an answer.

It sounds like there might possibly be an extra comma in your MDX script. It looks like it is at character 10 on the first line (that's what the 1,10 means)

Error on Report based on Analysis Services

I've got most of my first stab at using Reporting Services. I am using the
Report Viewer control in VS 2005. When I point it at a report based on
standard TSQL it runs. My next query is based on Analysis Services. It runs
via the URL when I login as an Administrator but I get the following error
when I do it via the Report Viewer. The problem is the web server can't
"see" itself (i.e. typing the URL of the ASP.net page doesn't seem to work)-
something which I will get the network people to look at tomorrow so I can't
see a more detailed error. I am just starting trying to get an understanding
of roles etc but some pointers would be great. Regards, Chris.

I did some more looking around and found the Knowledge
Base had an article - 814462 - that addresses this issue.
It recommends fixing a registry key value under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OL
AP
Server\Uninstall Info.
I do not have this entry in my registry.

Error On deploy (F5) - Cannot connect to Server

I am learning SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services. I am following the following webcast

When I try to deploy the project (F5) in Business Intelligence studio, I get the error message 'cannot connect to the server, check project properties under deployment'. I have checked those properties and made sure that the server name is correct and I have created a database on the server too.

I have tried installing SP2. But I still get the error message.

Any ideas what I need to do to fix this?

Is the server installed on the same machine that you are using Visual Studio on? If not, how are you accessing the server?|||

|||Have you verified that the Analysis Server is up and running? Go to Services under Administrative tools and look for SQL Server Analysis Services (<name of your server>). It should be started.|||

Yes Analysis services are running under services. I also cannot connect to reporting services.

I am able to connect to Database services and Integration services.

Ok. There was a firewall on the computer which was blocking some ports and not allowing the connections to be made.

When a previous image was restored (before the firewall), everything started working fine.

Can you try stop the service (net stop mssqlserverolapservice) and then delete the Adventure Works DW.0.db folder and Adventure*.xml file then restart your service.. Then redeploy adventure works dw database.

By default, AS2005 read the fact table without doing any join between this
table and related dimensions.
So by default AS2005 is "optimized", a step that you must manually do in
AS2000.
in AS2000 by default a query like select ... from table a inner join dimA
... is executed.
So what's appends in your case, there is some keys in your fact table but
these keys doesn't exists in your dimension table. with AS2000, the inner
join will automatically exclude these rows in errors during the process.
Because AS2005 don't do this inner join, these missing keys raise an error.
there is many solutions:
first, validate your dimension to insure that these keys exists, if not
create these keys in your database. (most beautyfull solution)
you can also ignore any key error.
or you can tell AS2005 to automatically create an "unknown" member for your
missing keys. (new AS2005 feature)
