Error processing a cube while transactions are made to the database
I am testing SASS by trying to process a cube while bombarding the
transactional database with new records. The process fails.
It works only when I stop making transactions.
Is there some configuration that enables cube processing while transactions
are still being made ?
Thank you.
Hello Ron,
Based on my scope, it is usually suggest that we do not perform normal
transactions on data warehouse unless when use DTS/SSIS to import data from
OLTP database. I think it is not support to process cube from database
warehouse while perform transactions at the same time.
You may want to consider incremental update feature. This will allow
contents of a cube current without requiring to reprocess the cube in full
when you add new data. The server creates a copy of the object that is
being processed and works on the copy until a commit request is received.
This permits the Analysis Services server to continue answering queries
against existing objects.

|||But its that tweaking the new "proactive cache" & using snapshot isolation
you should be able to do easy incremental processes.

Error of max length of string using sql DTC to import DATA
I am trying to use DTC to import about 500 records from an Excelsheet to an SQL database.
Some fields contain strings with a length of about 1700 characters.
When i'm trying to execute the DTC generated code it is giving an error and saying that the maximum string length of 255 has been reached. Althoug the column in the database is defined as nchar(1750).
Does anybody know an answer to this problem ?
Thanks in advance,
Goofythe max length of 255 is probably referring to the max length of text in a spreadsheet cell.
i know when i export to excel, all cell text gets clipped at 255 characters.|||Hi Thanks for your suggestion.
But till now no succes. I tried using .CSV as import type but still the same problem. Also if i use HTML as input type although the complete text (1700 char) is between the <DATA> and </DATA> tags.
Anybody with other suggestions ?
error occur while delete large volum records
how can i overcome this problem. please!!!!Are you deleting the entire table or only a part of it.|||only part of it|||Originally posted by yawhum80
only part of it
Can you post the delete query.. i believe an index would help a lot over here.|||Sub DeleteByReqID(TableName, myConn)
dim rsResult
Set rsResult = CreateObject ("ADODB.Recordset")
strSQL = "DELETE * FROM " & Trim(TableName) & " WHERE ReqID >= " & getFirstReqID & "AND ReqID <= " & getLastReqID
Set rsResult = myConn.Execute(strSQL)
Set rsResult = Nothing
End Sub|||Is reqid the primary key in this table .. if not ... a clustered index on the same would be my recomendation|||not all the table is using reqid as a primary key, may i know what is the problem?|||i mean to say that if you create a clustered index on the reqid column .. it might help speed up your query . The reason i asked whether reqid was the primary key was coz a clustered index is automatically created on the primary key column in case one doesn't exist already...
Can you post the ddl for the table|||i had test it in isql and all the datas are successful to deleted but once i using DTS ActiveX script it will pop up the error message.
no matter i using primary index, cluster index or non primary and non cluster index.
is this because the DTS ActiveX script has a time limit for a operation?

Error msg in OLD DB provider
e
tables within one transaction. I got the following errors:
Description: Cannot create new connection because in manual or distributed
transaction mode.
Source Description: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
The stored procedures are very simple. I do not try to create a new
connection explicitly. Neither do I try to use distributed transactions. The
only thing that might be a little complicate is I use ISequentialStream to
write blobs to table fields. The error msg confuses me. Any one has ideas
about this?Anothing might be interesting is that the error happens randomly and if I se
t
a break point in the code where it crashed and wait for a while before the
rest of stored procedures, you will not see the error and the save is
successful.
