I got this message when I try to connect to report service. I have no clue how to fix it. Please help!
Thanks
Darren
it looks like the error you're getting is:
Access to the path 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.3\Reporting Services\ReportServer\RSReportServer.config' is denied.
it was burried in all that html code
here's a solution i found over at google groups it might be what you need
"On the report server, make sure that your Reportserver web site Anonymous
Access disabled, and Authentication Access set to Integrated WIndows
Authentication.
In Internet Explorer on your computer, put the Report server web site in
Trusted Sites, and turn on "Always prompt for username and password" under
the security settings.
Then make sure that your account is allowed to view and add reports to the
server, by going to the report server URL and try to log in and generally do
stuff. (If you get the Upload file-button, you should be allowed to add
reports.)
Try deploying the report again.

|||I am using IE 6.0.2900. Should not be a concern, right?
|||Thank you for replying.
I just tried your solution. It is not working.
I also ran http://localhost/Reports2005, I got following error:
The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is
running and can be accessed from this computer.
I am thinking the problem maybe the setup (installation). I have SQL
Server 2000 Reports Service on my machine. When I installed the SQL Server
2005 Report Service. It simply tells me that report service has been
installed. So I created a new instance Reports2005 and ReportServer2005. Is
this the reason why it is not working? And what should I do to fix it?

|||There is an error in the log: "The feature: "Using other editions of SQL Server for report data sources and/or the report server database" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services."
It seems you have a standard edition of RS, but your SQL server is a developer edition. Standard RS can only use Standard or Enterprise edtion of SQL server for storing its catalog db.
|||Your answer make sense. But I am using SQL Server 2005 STD. I think the SQL Server 2000 is Developer edition. Is that why? and how can I fix it?
Thanks
Darren
|||I am not too sure if there are further SKU restrictions on RS2K5 working with SQL2K, but RS2K5 standard edition will not work with any developer edition SQL server.
There isn't a way to "fix" it per se. You need to use compatible RS and SQL. I think RS2K5 standard edition requires a SQL license anyway, so you can install SQL2K5 standard edition.
If you have to use your developer SQL2K server, probably you can try RS2K5 developer edition.
|||Thanks.
I think I know what to do now. I will install a RS2K5 on a seperate machine.
Hope that will solve the problem.
Darren
